I was sent to serve my National Service at a unit situated at Lim Chu Kang. There is this particular day that all training are to be cancelled, We called it the ‘Black Day’, sorry but I cannot disclose the date lah. Here is a story from me, I heard it from an old superior of mine.

The story begins. Long time ago, as there was this coffee shop just located outside the complex, army boys always like to walk there for their break. One of the soldiers managed to start a relationship with the girl working at the coffee shop. Sometime after that, the girl got pregnant, she got worried and went to the unit, which the guy mentioned, and tried to look for him. As there were a few other units located within the complex, she went to the wrong location and unfortunately, she failed to see him. It started to rain. She felt as if the guy had cheated her, she broke down and cried. The rain soon stopped, the girl’s body was found handing on a branch that spread over a bridge. Her boyfriend went crazy after the incident, nobody knows why.

A year after the incident, a fatal accident happened on the same day, the very same spot where the girl committed suicide. The driver of the vehicle died because his head was crushed. Strange and terrible things will always happen on the fateful day if there will to be any training. The bridge and the river that run under it no longer exist now, but sighting of a lady in white carrying a baby was always reported. Some even said that they saw a soldier with crushed skull roaming at a ‘particular area’ As for me, I only realised that this particular area is actually the stretch of road that I had beenwalking in / out for the past two and a half years.
