My uncle was as stubborn bull whenever we talked about supernatural stuff. He never believed in such stories and incidents that encountered by others as he used to think that it is just their imaginations running wild until one day……..
In the 80s when we still stayed in a Kampong (currently it is Singapore Expo)… My uncle was a strong disbeliever of supernatural “thing”. Being young and daring, one day he went into a Chinese’s temple and offered 5 sticks of joss sticks to the God and said “I do not believe in ghost unless you let me see it with my own eyes”. After he made the offering, he left the temple and went off with his bicycle to catch a movie happily.
After the movie, it was already around 11pm when he started to cycle back home along the dark and uneven road. While he was cycling, suddenly something caught his attention. There was an old lady (around 80 – 90 years old) standing by the road side looking down. Of out curiosity, he slowed down the pace and got off his bicycle and approached the old lady, thinking that was she doing at this time along there and if she needed any help. As he walked closer to the old lady, he saw something that he could not believe his eyes….the…the old lady …only the upper part of her body! At that moment, he face was as white as a sheet of paper and cold sweat was running down his body. He pushed the bicycle very slowly with his eyes rooted to the old lady while passing by the old lady thinking in his heart that the old lady may follow him… After a distance away from the old lady, he got onto his bicycle and sped off as fast as he could back home.
The next day, he learnt that one of the neighbors actually passed away that very night and that was the old lady whom he saw the night before!
From that day on, he rather believe in such supernatural thing do exist than not.
