Feng Shui at the front door is of paramount importance because everyone must pass through it to enter your premises. A positive energy is the object here and one of the ways to enhance the energy is beautifying your entrance. A good effect will have an impact on the harmony within and most importantly, greater prosperity can achieved, be it at home or office.

Other than dressing your front entrance, the other important thing to ensure that there are no obstructions that prevent anyone from opening the door freely. The door must operate in a condition that is not faulty and must be as smooth as possible. If it is not in good operation, then it will cultivate bad energy and it can pass on to other areas like kitchen, bedrooms at home or pantry, offices at work.

By the rule of thumb, the entrance inside a premise should not face an empty wall with nothing at all. A flat wall with nothing represents solidity and it will rebound any positive energy that tries to come in through the door. Inside the premise, the distance from the wall to the door should not be lesser than four feet. This is to ensure that there is enough space to channel the energy to other areas of the interior. If however due to unique design, your premise is indeed this way, all is not lost. A good solution is to hang a mirror on the wall facing the entrance as it will help to spread the energy just like how it will spread lights if you shine your torch into it.

The width of the door should be as wide as possible as length symbolizes space and space represents wealth or abundance which your house can use to tap on positive energy coming in. A smaller width will mean smaller amount of positive energy can enter. Ideally, the front door should lead into a large living room which easy access to other living room without obstacles to hinder the energy’s movement.

When you receive a visitor, it is important that the first thing he sees is positive and that will cultivate a positive reaction which will mean the guest brings with him positive energy. It is always advisable to store stuffs that you don’t use everyday in the storeroom and away from an entrance view. Always keep the view from the door upon entering as neat and tidy as possible. When people see something positive, the response is positive and the result which is his stay is going to be positive.

Standing at your door facing outside, you must be able to see the view clearly. There should not be objects such as boxes of flower pots place at a high level and preventing you from seeing clearly the length of the corridor. To complement it, a good lighting is important in the night time. A well lit corridor will be difficult for negative energy to travel through your door as it would be disperse easily and diverted away. The other factor to note is there must not be a sharp object directly facing your door, whether it’s a structure of the building or a temporary feature. If it is part of the building, the house is not in an ideal situation and massive effort needs to be done to correct the fault. As a precaution to defray negative energy, some people will hang a mirror, especially in the shape of Pak Kua which is the “eight symbols” outside the door. This is a very good practice as it acts as a double protection.
