Caught! Scores of people were amazed by Avis Mountain’s photographic creation of a ‘ghost’ at Kemp House.
Many skimmed over the part of our story which made it clear the picture was dreamed up and created by the Mid North Camera Club member.
Avis received about 30 calls, including one from TVNZ wanting to do a story.
Our item on page 1 last week was listed as the day’s most read story on the Northland section of the Fairfax Stuff website.
It also prompted several calls from people relating their ghost experiences, including Lara Howell, of Paihia.
She says she’s had several ghostly experiences and believes she met her grandfather while cleaning his grave site.
The person she saw, wearing braces and a singlet, met the description of her grandfather who died long before she was born.
She says her parents’ Okiato house is haunted and she doesn’t feel comfortable there.
Her mother, Viv Howell, confirms an apparition was seen in the house on at least three occasions, once walking through the lounge while she ironed.
“I looked up and it walked across the room and out the door.”
Describing it, she says, “It’s like a white cloud but it walks like a person.”
She has not seen much of it since having the house blessed.
