I have always been curious in those supernatural and occult stuff. Ghost stories spooked me, but I enjoy them immensely. Anyway, when I was in secondary school, a few friends of mine ask me to join their activities. I shall not name names, activities and locations to protect the innocence. If you want the details, please contact me directly.Anyway, they say life is short and our stay in Earth is temporary, which is very true in the most scientific sense. They say that if I were to join them, I can gain Eternal Life. No need to die. Live in some Paradise after my life on Earth has ended. I was pique with curiousity. So I joined them.
Basically, we have a lot of singings and all that. We are supposed to “communicate” with a
Supernatural Being. We can “talk” to “Him” (Dunno why they are so sure that thingy is a male, so sorry to you feminists) directly, through our “Heart”. That is weird, but they say as long as I am sincere, I can reach Him, through some medium, some kind of Spirit. Hey, even Chinese ghost stories are not that scary. It is said that we can ask for things from that Thing. He is the one who can give us Eternal Life or Eternal Suffering. We just need to accept that him into our “Hearts”.
So where is this heart? If you think the chunk of muscle pumping blood, think again. According to a Priest who knows a lot about this Believe, he said that the Heart is at the centre of the body. That means, it is about an inch below the belly button. Now I do study a little about Chinese medicine and other healing arts. That point is called the “Dan Tien”. Additionally, it is an important point for martial arts practitioner (which I do a little). Sorry for my rudeness here, but even the most untalented traditional Chinese doctor would know that the point is central in the symmetrical sense; there is no intelligence or “special powers” over at that point.
Listening to what the Priest said, I was actually less afraid. Maybe they are just creating their own story. But what was really scary is their aim. Not only they want aim to go to that “Paradise”, they want everyone in the world to have the same aim too. That means you and me! They always encourage all Believers to gain more new Believers. To quote one of my friends, it is as though they “gain more brownie points for getting more converts”.
Additionally, they come up with some “Soul” theory. When pressed they cannot point out where exactly is the soul, but they just keep on saying, “Its there…it is the essence of life, something left behind when you die”. Heck, imagine how you would feel if you go to the doctor, the doctor tells you that you have cancer, and when you asked what type of cancer and where it is, the doctor just said, “Its there, somewhere in your body. It is slowly eating you up. But I can’t describe it. You just have to believe there is cancer in your body”. I can assure you that you will definitely freak out.
What is really scary to me is that they claim they can answer every question in this world. Tell you what, next time you have problems with your job/assignment/wife/mistress/dog/yeti, just go to one of those Believer and they shall provide you with the answer. They have this Scripture which they claim is Holy (duh, of course it has to be holy) and contains the answer to everything.
What is interesting is those people are broken into different sects or groups if that sounds nicer. The thing is, each of them claims that they are the Ultimately Correct Ones, and the rest are shams, bringing you to Eternal Suffering. Seems like a mutually exclusive situation in mathematical terms. Let’s just assume that their Believe is the truth, the real truth such as the one in Matrix. Which group will you go to? Choose the wrong one and you will Suffer Eternally.
You may laugh at what these people do, but they seemed to be attracting a lot of new Believers. They have sessions where they invite those so called Non-Believers to join them. The athmosphere is such that you are likely to be influenced by what is said. A bit hypnotic, in my opinion. A very good sales pitch, in marketing terms. Who would want to forsake Eternal Life and Joy huh?
Anyway, in my free time I am working on a paper on why people are attracted to these organisations. If you are a Psychologist, prefabably specialising on Gestalt or Psychoanalysis (they seemed to be on
opposite ends, but both contain a lot of theories which are applicable in this scenario) and interested to research in this phenomena, do contact me. I am looking forward to writing a joint paper about this issue.
Whoever wants to verify the details, do not hesistate to contact me. I can arrange to let you experience all of it yourself, first hand. As a last word, just beware of where others might mislead you. Not everyone knows everything in the world. Use our senses, use our brains, think and look before we leap. Just don’t give in easily to those “salespeople”.
