A few years ago, I was house hunting, so went around viewing various HDB with my wife and agent. The first few viewings went okay, but nothing caught or met our expectations so we pressed on.

Anyway, one HDB flat at Toa Payoh came up for viewing, I cant remember where and which block it was, but it was behind Toa Payoh’s the peak and was a 4 room HDB that was rented out to foreigners. At the door, I felt a sudden chill and a sudden headache, the house looked old despite the fact that it was built only 5 or 10 years or so ago. I walked around feeling extremely uncomfortable, like a kind of claustrophobic feeling (even though it was quite bare) and I was really anxious to leave. We left within 5 mins.

While in the lift going down, I ask my wife and agent whether they felt weird, both of them commented yes. All 3 of us felt that the house just gave a very strange vibe.

I am not sure whether it was a ‘dirty’ house or whatever, but it just gave us the creeps. Needless to say, we did not buy the house.
