Hantu Putung
A male ghost wrapped in white cloth like a mummy, who jumps about in the middle of the road late at night glowing.

Gendruwo – Indonesian name
Nobody knows how or what does it look like because it has no certain shape. It is said that this ghost is very scary and only scares us people.

Wewegombel
It takes form of a women. Appearing often around sunset, it ‘kidnaps’ unsuspecting children and hides them on high tree branches.

Sundelbolong
This ghost goes after young men ( those of you handsome ones watch out! ). It takes form of a beautiful lady and if it manages to tackle you, she will show you her very smelly butt with an ‘0? hole shape instead of the normal one ( you know ).

Thethekan
This ghost is said to kidnap children who are playing outside their home at night. One can identify it through it’s footsteps : “thek, thek, thek “.

Manananggal
A type of vampire. it is usually a female (can be a male) that at night especially during a full moon would rub a kind of oil on its body while uttering an incantation. then it grows a pair leathery wings (wing span may vary) that is similar to bat’s wings, claws and fangs while the body starts to separate on the waist. when the separation is complete, the upper half flies away in search of its victims while the lower half stays behind. the intestines are left with the lower half.

A way to kill it is to search for its lower half pour salt, garlic or holy water until it burns. to kill the upper half is much harder because it is very fast. it is usually killed or maimed by spearing it. but killing the lower half will prevent it from transforming back to its human form.

Tik-Tik
A kind of ghost that sucks the fetus from the uterus. it is usually described as the throat of the aswang. it lowers its thread like tongue to the pregnant woman’s navel, which is its point of entry. the tik-tik usually knows if there is a pregnant woman in the vicinity because a pregnant woman smells like pinipig (sweet rice). the pregnant victim wouldn’t know if a tik-tik is near but the companions can. it makes the faint sound “tik tik tik” near the victim’s house. Garlic and holy water are usually used to ward it off from the pregnant woman.

Wak Wak
The aswang’s familiar. it is a big black bird and only flies at night. it eats the heart and liver of its adult victims and it also preys on babies and children. when it is near the victim or a place where it will attack, it cries “wak, wak, wak” faintly but when it is far, it loudly cries “wak, wak, wak”

Kapre
A Kapre is a tree spirit that smokes a Tabako (Tobacco). It is bigger and taller than any normal human, it’s body is very hairy. It play’s tricks on people who goes near it’s tree. when someone tries to cut down or harm the tree it lives on, that person becomes very sick or sometimes dies.

Tikbalang
Part man part horse (it’s a human with a horse’s head) like the Kapre, it lives on trees. They can be very possessive especially on women. When they see a virgin woman and liked her, they would go and rape her. The woman will be impregnated and she will bear a child that would be called the Anak ng Tikbalang (Child of the Tikbalng). The child will be either a normal human with a tail when it is born or sometimes the child will just disappear inside the womans womb. They believe that the Tikbalang has taken it away.

Nuno sa Punso
These are little men (like dwarfs) with magical powers, they live on a Punso (something like an large anthill) if anyone kicks it or destroys their home, they would make you sick. For example, if you kicked it’s home, your leg could be very sore and swell up. if you ever stepped on one or destroyed one, you must make a offering, a chicken or any other farm animal. You must bring the live animal where the Punso is then kill it on that spot, sprinkle some of it’s blood around the Punso and leave it there.

It is an adult with black magic which can change them back into a child. And they will rub some animal oil onto their body and they will creep into people’s house. They will tie the husband up and rape the wife. After that, they will leave their shit in their house. The woman can see the oil child in the dark but the man cannot see properly. They appeared , knock at people’s house and as many times as they want.

Buaya puteh is believe to the the siamese twin of a human being. According to the legend, a baby girl was born together with a baby of a white crocodile in 1954 in a village. The whole village was shocked! But it was no surprise for the mother cause she herself practice bomoh magic. She care and love the baby girl and crocodile every single day without fail but when the goverment wanted to repossed the land they are living on, she had to let the crocodile free into the sea. Before doing that, the crocodile came as a human in her twin sister dream and warn her to feed her on every full moon on a thursday nite. She wanted live white chicken to be slaugther on the beach. If she fail to do so, the crocodile will claim a victim from the nearby beaches(sembawang park).

So far there are alot of drowing cases along sembawang beaches. Most of the victim are found far from the place they drown and usually found a few days after the accident.
