Main Convent is another premier school in Ipoh, situated adjacent to Ipoh Parade and Sam Tet High School, it is known as the mother of other prestigious all-girls schools in Ipoh, namely Tarcisian Convent, Ave Maria and Convent elementary schools. For your information, St Michael (all-boys) was also part of the Main Convent so i]her history surpassed many schools. To date, it is 118 years old and still counting.

This story was related to me by my sister, who is a Convent alumni. It happened in the late evening where most of the students went back. A disciplinary teacher was doing her routine patrol before she headed home. She walked pass offices, classrooms, toilets and reached the food court where she saw two girls, sitting on a bench. The girl on the right was doing her homework, presumably killing time to wait for her parents to fetch her up.

The teacher continued her patrol and made a second round. This time when she reached the food court, there was only the girl-doing-homework left. She approached the girl and asked ‘Where is your friend?’. The girl replied ‘What friend, madam?’.

The teacher was startled and asked her to quickly go home.
