This story was told my brother’s friend who works in the airport as a technician. It’s just natural that Airport workers of different department meet at lunch breaks. Then, they will exchange stories about the Airport Grounds. This story was told by a guy who works in the Control Tower.
Usually when a plane is about to land, the pilot will communicate with the Control Tower Officer to make sure of which lane should they land. There was this one incident the Control Tower Officer did not permit the Pilot to land on a particular lane saying that there is an obstruction there. However, the Pilot do not seem to see any of the mentioned obstructions. After much hesitation, it was decided that the Plane should hover into the air again and land in another far away lane from the current lane that had an obstuction.
What actually that the Control Tower Officer saw were old Muslim graves with ancient looking tombstones.
Historically, long before the airport was built, there was on old Cemetery called the Air Gemuruh Cemetery dated during the early years of the war before Singapore gained Independence. It had to be abolished to do away with a part of the vast landing ground that was needed to be built.
